This service provides 24-hour/7 days a week coverage for responding to aeromedical emergencies, evacuations and interhospital transfers, performing search and rescue of persons over land or water or participating in counter-disaster operations such as food and medical re- supply.
It has also been tasked to assist Police operations such as sieges and abductions and to support major fire responses.
Due to the introduction of twin engined, IFR technology helicopters has enabled these EMS operations to provide an enhanced level of service by operating to a greater range and with greater operating flexibility thus providing a better service to the community.
